Testimonials

Celebrating the end of Pre-K with pajama day!  I’m feeling all the feels of Zoe’s last day at Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon’s Early Childhood Center.  I’ll never forget the day before she started there I cried harder than I ever had in my life….sobbed! No one could have prepared me for the anticipation leading up to dropping our tiny 3-month-old baby off at daycare for the first time. And thanks for making it even worse…postpartum anxiety.

I remember when we dropped her off, one of the parents said to me, “You chose the greatest place to send your baby. All three of my kids go here.” I’ll never forget those words because it was so reassuring as a new, anxious Mom. Thank you, Sam! She could not have been more right!

Delmar Gardens has absolutely been a godsend for us. They love our girls like their own. The teachers are all so wise and have all been there for years. There’s virtually no turnover. They taught Zo so many foundational things-how to be a good friend, how to have enough love for everyone, how to be a team player and a leader (they may have overemphasized this quality). And, so many essential things have been taught and reiterated with them – abc’s, counting, how to write her name, etc. The patience they must have for all the arts and crafts they do astounds me. All that stuff is just a bonus, though. The waythey have loved and cared for Zoe is everything. It’s an amazing place and every teacher has been a blessing to us.

Now, 4 years later no one prepared me for the last day of daycare for Zoe, either. And how sad I am to leave her teachers. I can’t thank Delmar Gardens enough for helping us take care of our funny, spunky, sweet, caring girl!

One critique I do have is for them to be less perfect so it wouldn’t be this hard to watch Zoe move on. Also, they could have put a little more effort into toning down her feistiness a bit.  We will let the next teacher work on that…best wishes to her!

To Whom It May Concern,

Several weeks ago I was transferred to your facility from a Health Center in St. Charles. I had a broken hip and had to wait until an infection in my hand healed up before I could have surgery. I am 59 years old and have never been to a nursing home. I did not know how long I would have to be there.  To tell you I was depressed about it is an understatement, depressed and scared. I first went to a facility in St Peters. After 3 days I demanded they remove me from their facility. I was yelled at by the nurse when I yelled out for help because I couldn’t find my call light. I felt lost and scared.

I went back to the St. Charles health center then was transferred to your facility, Delmar Gardens of O’ Fallon. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!. I want to tell you what a great group of people you have working for you. Everyone was kind, compassionate and I couldn’t of asked for more.

I can’t recall all names but I would like to start with a few I do remember. Lyndsey, Shelia, Theresa, Brittany, Tracy, and last but someone I will never forget is Monica. The second day I was there I had a panic attack, which is entirely new for me. I went up to the nurses station crying. Even though Monica was passing her meds and I’m sure she was very busy, she stopped and rolled me outside to sit with me for a few minutes. After sitting with her I was ready to go back to my room. She made me feel I was important and that what I was feeling was important to her.

I am a retired nurse and I feel too many nurses don’t treat the entire person. Some just want to get the task done they were assigned and forget what a person is feeling.

Again, my experience was nothing but A plus. I would recommend your facility to anyone.

Thanks for employing such a great bunch of people.

Susan C.

Dear Mr. Grossberg,

I am writing you this card to let you know how deeply our family is filled with gratitude for you and your Delmar Gardens family. Our dear father passed away on Sept. 4, 2014 at Delmar Gardens O’Fallon. I want you to know he received excellent care while he was there. Every single staff member from housekeeping all the way to Terri the administrator were wonderful to Bob and our family. We were one of those families that came every day but they always made us feel welcome.

Maegan and Ellen in the office were so fantastic and so kind to our family. One weekend when Maegan was working she was so attentive to us when Bob took a turn for the worst and helped us start hospice. We will never forget how considerate she was to us at our time of need. All of the nursing staff were so kind to Bob as well as the social worker, Jan. You will never know how thankful we are to Delmar Gardens O’Fallon.

Please let your staff know how wonderful they are!

Dear Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon,

I just want to take a minute to praise your staff. I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation for the kindness and excellent care shown to me.

However, I would like to offer special appreciation and thanks to Jessica Catiaux for her exceptional dedication, outstanding professional performance and exceeding above and beyond the call to duty. To Brittany Andert and Kuira Shannon for extending their dedication and compassion, as well as their understanding and caring. I would like to thank the rehab staff and single out Maureen Gongaleg and Kelly Randal. Their patient persistence and encouragement really motivated me to take every opportunity to speed my recovery. Also to the housekeeping staff especially Gabrielle Borgmann who kept my room and shared restroom facility immaculate and tidy.

Thank you for employing the right “A” team of people to work on the 700 wing. It makes all the world of difference when one has a place to call home away from home.

Thank you once again for all your care and support.

Gabe and Kathy (and Teri too),

I wanted to bring something to your attention, not as an employee, but as a daughter of a recent resident. My mother Mary S. was a recent guest of Delmar Gardens O’Fallon for rehabilitation after a leg fracture. She was admitted on December 13 and spent all of the Christmas Holidays away from us. My 3 sisters and I live within walking distance of my mom so needless to say we are very close. I was not nervous about her being admitted to one of our facilities but as a nurse and the oldest of 4 girls, I was apprehensive about not taking care of her myself.

All my fears were eased from the minute she entered the facility. The staff members were so approachable and treated her like part of the “family” from day one. Every concern and detail was addressed without batting an eye. She had many “favorites” including Catherine,  Christian, Lexi, Chris from night shift, and Melissa. Not to mention her therapists Kelly and Natalie. But the one that my sisters and I along with my mom, want to mention is Stacy H. She went above and beyond every day that my mom was there. My mom rarely had to ask for anything. Stacy seemed to anticipate everything she would need. My mom was so afraid of falling but with Stacy she was fine. I felt confident everyday knowing Stacy was working with her. She is truly a blessing to have at Delmar Gardens.

Although I am very sorry that my mom fell and required therapy, I am glad that she was able to rehabilitate at O’Falllon. They practice daily what we teach-Faith, Love, and Understanding. During her follow up with her orthopedist last week, the doctor asked her how she liked therapy. She said  she was treated like royalty while in rehab and didn’t want to leave. He was thrilled. I was so proud to tell him that I am part of the Delmar Gardens Family.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

Lisa S. and the family of Mary S.

When my Mom and Dad, moved into Delmar Gardens O’Fallon in November of 2013 we weren’t sure it was the right decision. They had been living with us and, at the time, started needing more care than we felt we could give them at home.

As their health declined we came to fully appreciate the effort made by the staff at Delmar to not only care for them physically but to help them maintain their dignity and their close personal relationship. We came to know many of the staff on a first name basis and would like to acknowledge them.

At the risk of forgetting many individuals who were very kind and helpful to Mom and Dad, we want to particularly commend Catherine, Melissa, Jen, Kayla and Crystal (during my parents time in the 500 wing). For two years they went out of their way to make the transition from full independence to assisted care as comfortable as possible. They consistently cared for Mom and Dad with love and respect. Kelly and Wilma in food service went out of their way to accommodate my parents somewhat finicky eating habits.

As Mom’s condition worsened, it was necessary for her to move to the memory care wing. The staff was kind enough to allow Dad to move with her rather than separate them. Jackie (from housekeeping) was more than helpful during the room changes and, beyond that, she became a friend to my parents and us.

On the 200 wing, we were constantly amazed by the individual care, support and genuine concern over the residents well being. Chris, Kara, Kayla, Nathan and Samantha (forgive me for not knowing the entire staff by name) are incredible. We could write pages about them and not fully convey the amount of respect and appreciation that we have for these wonderful people. As my parents entered the final stages of their lives, we knew that they were in the best hands that we could hope for. The entire staff helped JoAnn and I as much as they were helping my parents. We simply cannot express the depth of our gratitude.

We originally chose Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon because of it’s location and the appearance of the

building, rooms and grounds. And while these are important to both the residents and their families, it is the staff who make Delmar what it is. We hope that the senior management of Delmar Gardens truly appreciates the incredibly difficult work, long hours and overall high level of competence exhibited by the people who see to the needs of the residents and their families each and every day. They are your most valuable asset.

Sincerely,

Bob & JoAnn M.

Attention :    Mr. Oppenheimer:

I would like to Commend a man that is employed with Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon, MO.  This man is an Asset to your staff.

His name is Kyle.

My grandmother has been living at Delmar Gardens for about 5 years now.  I am there every morning with her for breakfast.  I have never seen an employee work the way this man works.  He is nothing but Professional, Caring, and extremely quick.  He is always rushing and hurrying to get everyone taken care of.  He even knows the residents by name.    He takes care of these people like they were his family.  Like I take care of my Grandmother.  She is going to have her 97th Birthday very soon, and still knows everything going on around her.  She has even told me about Kyle and the smile he brings to so many of the residents at Delmar.

I just wanted to let you know that you have an outstanding, caring person employed with your Company.  I believe every special person that Blesses other peoples’ lives, should be recognized.

Respectfully,

Kelly D.

Dear Ellen and Teri,

My family and I would like to thank you and especially all the people who have taken care of Bob for the past 5 1/2 years of his life at Delmar Gardens.  From the time he entered there on May 29, 2011 on the 700 wing, then moved to 400, and finally the 600 wing, his care has been outstanding.  There are so many people I could mention but don’t want to leave anyone out so I’ll just say we couldn’t have asked for any better care.  From the nurses, Christy, Todd, Megan, (and so many more) and CMTs who brought Bob his medicine (he always had a way of teasing with the girls), the CNAs who cared for him and his needs were all the best.  With that said – I can’t close though without mentioning Josh Durham.  Josh has always gone above and beyond taking care of both Bob and I.  He would always find a few minutes to come in to see how I was doing as well as giving Bob excellent care.  We felt he was the son we never had.  I’d like to thank Julia and Josh for noticing Bob’s condition on that Friday night and the doctor for sending him to the hospital – it was the place he needed to be.  I never thought though that the outcome would be what it was. He is in a better place now.

Bob was a wonderful and a very kind man who never complained and was grateful for everyday of his life. Everyone who cared for him said he was so easy to take care of and appreciated everything they did for him.  He always had such a positive outlook and several of the girls said they learned so much from him.

We all loved him so much and will miss him dearly.  I feel blessed that we had him for 23 years after his diagnosis of Muscular Dystrophy.  God was very good to us.

I will miss my extended family at Delmar Gardens and hope to come over and volunteer with my ICD family bringing residents to Mass on Tuesday mornings.  Might be a little while before I can do that – but hopefully not too long.

Thank you

Carol L.

Dear Teri:

Just a note to let you know how much Linda and I enjoyed her stay at Delmar Gardens.

Your staff is wonderful.  The nurses, technicians, therapists, and office staff were most kind and understanding and we feel Linda got excellent care.  Even the cooks need to take a bow as the food was excellent.

I would have not problem in recommending Delmar Gardens.  All of you deserve a round of applause.

Thank you and your employees for a job well done.

Re:  Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon

I am writing this letter to express my gratitude for the recent experience I had at the O’Fallon location with my father, William K.  My dad was transferred to Delmar after a terrible fall he had taken at another assisted living facility (not a Delmar facility).

Upon his arrive he went to 100 for rehabilitation – on this floor he had a wonderful nurse, Kristen.  My dad had dementia and was in extreme pain from a fractured hip and pelvis and a severe face injury from his fall.  Kristen was very caring and understanding of my dad.

When it was determined that my dad would not improve, he was moved to 200.  This is where we met nurse Christine.  She was amazing with my dad from day one.  I immediately trusted her with my dad’s care.  She sat and talked with me and put me at ease.  My dad was no longer speaking but I would see he was at ease when she was in the room.  When Christine was going on her days off – she would spend extra time with my dad to make sure he would eat and drink plenty to make sure he was hydrated well before she left.  My dad died from his injuries on February 15, 2019.  Christine did everything she could do to make sure dad was comfortable and care for with dignity.

While going through this with my dad – I could not be there 24 hours a day – but if Christine was going to be there – I was never worried.  I knew she had him.  I cannot say enough about what a wonderful job she did for our family.  I have met a lot of caregivers while going through this with my dad, but Christine is one of, if not the best I have met.  I just cannot say enough about her.

Thank you.

Dawn W.

On behalf of William K.

“I wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU for everything everyone did while my Dad, Elmer B., was at Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon earlier this year!

THANK YOU!!!

Because of your commitment to each patient and bringing them back to good health, we were able to take part in an Honor Flight on June 29!

Smile as you view this photo of one Veteran being honored by our Vice-President, Mike Pence, who came out to meet our group at the WWII Memorial on that day!

And, then his triumphant return to be greeted by a reception room full of cheering family and supporters waiting for their grand entrance after a wonderful day trip!

This absolutely would not have happened without all of you at Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon helping to return my Dad’s health to a better place!”

Peace & Joy,
Mike B.

I want to thank all of you who helped my mom in the time that she was a resident. In my weekly visits, I would encounter people who cleaned her rooms or brought laundry in, who kidded or talked with her about some subject. I saw how gently she was handled by the nurses and the aids and teased or hugged by them. I worked with administration on issues concerning Mom’s welfare and money. In every instance, my mom and I were helped with professionalism combined with compassion. All of you are loving, caring people and I am so glad that God led me to Delmar Gardens for Mom’s care.
